First off, congratulations to Scott Pedder and Jonathan Mortimer of the Pedders Suspension Rally Team winning the 2010 QUIT Forest Rally. As always, it was a tough weekend for the first gravel event of the 2010 Australian Rally Championship season, once again providing a spectacle for the fans. It was also a great opportunity for Levi and myself to score a Media Pass, which was fantastic because we had both been to the past two Forest Rallies in which we managed to shoot some pretty good shots, but the Media Pass allowed us to get a little closer to the action and shoot from different angles.
This was the first motorcycle race of the MCRCWA (Motorcycle Racing Club of Western Australia) 2010 Season held at Barbagallo Raceway in Perth, Western Australia.
I haven’t shot motorcycle racing in quite a while and it’s a lot more fast paced compared to the Drift I did a little while ago.
Anyway, here is a select few, click on them for FULL-VIEW.
Got to experiment with the Canon 7D the other night at Barbagallo Raceway, unfortunately is was in very poor conditions. The practice was delayed so by the time the cars were on the track it was far too dark. As a result I had to shoot wide open (on a 300 F4L IS) at max ISO. A lot didn’t turn out, but I was quite surprised at how many did, especially given the conditions.
I have always been a fan of this event, you get a huge range of different cars which gets mixed with some very skillful driving, what more could you want? This year was interesting, because on the first few days the drivers were subjected to the rain which can turn any event upside down. Unfortunately Levi and I could only make the last day, but by then the competition was still fierce. Here is a select few from the day.
Got to attend a SAUWA Skidpan Day at the RAC Driving Centre recently and it was my first chance to fiddle around with a 5D MKII. Absolutely fantastic camera. I was planning on taking photos on my trusty 30D, but I couldn’t resist using the Video mode on the 5D. This is the result:
Unfortunately this is my first video edit and I got the video conversion wrong, hence why it looks like it skips a fair bit. I’ve found out where I went wrong so in the near future I’ll head back and fix it up.
