Apologies for the lack of updates. I haven’t really shot anything lately as I sold my camera. Main reason was that I ordered a new one and unfortunately it has taken a while to get here. So after about a month of not touching a camera I borrowed a mates 5D MKII and 24-70L (beautiful camera) and decided to go to Lancelin (~100kms North of Perth)
These were a couple of photos I shot (Click for full-view).
At long last, after coming up with the idea almost a year ago, Levi put the site together in the past couple of weeks. Loudphotos is a showcase of our quality event photos specialising in motorsports, club events and all things loud.
I have always been a fan of this event, you get a huge range of different cars which gets mixed with some very skillful driving, what more could you want? This year was interesting, because on the first few days the drivers were subjected to the rain which can turn any event upside down. Unfortunately Levi and I could only make the last day, but by then the competition was still fierce. Here is a select few from the day.
Check out Issue 111 of Performance Imports and you will not only my photos there, but also my car. Granted they are photos OF my car, but still I’m glad to have something of mine published in a magazine. The editor of Performance Imports, Jason Round, contacted me to see whether I’d be happy to share a couple of photos for a feature about the Mitsubishi Galant and Legnum VR4’s, I was only glad to contribute and could not believe at what extent they had used my photos.
Had another shoot with Funky Bunches yesterday. It was just a simple shoot of a couple of arrangements to use on their website. I’ve done a couple of them before, but this time I was able to experiment with proper lighting setups. Ended up using a white shoot-through umbrella camera left with a Nikon SB24 firing through and a Sigma EF500 DG Super, bare with the diffuser, further back camera right. I’m pretty happy with how they turned out, I really need to invest in multiple umbrellas though, as the reflection on some of the vases from the Sigma flash were a bit harsh, hope the client likes them.
Got to attend a SAUWA Skidpan Day at the RAC Driving Centre recently and it was my first chance to fiddle around with a 5D MKII. Absolutely fantastic camera. I was planning on taking photos on my trusty 30D, but I couldn’t resist using the Video mode on the 5D. This is the result:
Unfortunately this is my first video edit and I got the video conversion wrong, hence why it looks like it skips a fair bit. I’ve found out where I went wrong so in the near future I’ll head back and fix it up.
Had a recent photoshoot with my good mate Levi in which both of us just got our new flashes and flash triggers. Unfortunately we were mucking around too much with settings and eventually lost track of time therefore getting dark which made it even harder. Was a good experience although maybe I was expecting better results, but I guess more practice can’t hurt.
